Let's taco about mains

First things first: which dish should you pick? There's plenty to choose from: a classic, loaded or superfood burrito, a 'naked' burrito, tacos or nachos. You can also get a superfood bowl.

Next up, choose your filling: the bulk of your burrito. Which meat? Which rice? Which vegetables? To pinto bean or not to pinto bean?

Then decide whether you'd like any toppings or extras such as jalapenos, cheese or sour cream, and whether you want any sides, like tortilla chips. (Tacos generally come with tortilla chips and salsa on the side.)

Helpful hints:

• If you want slaw instead of rice in your wrap, go for the superfood burrito.
• If you don't want the wrap but you want everything else, order the naked burrito.
• If you want to double up on meat, go for the loaded burrito. You'll also get guacamole.
• The superfood bowl is a loaded bowl with slaw and other fresh ingredients, including guacamole.
• If you gettacos, it's worth knowing that different shells have different SmartPoints values. Do you want a hard shell or a soft shell? Corn flour or wheat flour? Scroll down to find the SmartPoints values of each.

SmartPoints tracking tips:

Loaded burrito

For the loaded burrito double your main filling and add guacamole:

Example: Regular tortilla wrap (10SP) + 2 portions of regular grilled chicken (6SP) + regular portion of white rice (2SP) + pinto beans (0SP) + jalapenos (0SP) + lettuce (0SP) + guacamole (3SP) = 21SP

Superfood burrito

For the superfood burrito do not include rice, and double up on the slaw and guacamole:

Example: Small tortilla wrap (7SP) + small portion of grilled chicken (2SP) + pinto beans (0SP) + double portion of slaw (2SP) + double portion of guacamole (6SP) + lettuce (0SP) = 17SP

Naked burrito

For the naked burrito do not include the wrap, add 1.5 portions of rice, and double your lettuce portion:

Example: 1.5 regular portions of white rice (3SP) + regular portion of grilled chicken (3SP) + pinto beans (0SP) + onion and peppers (0SP) + jalapenos (0SP) + regular portion of Pico de Gallo salsa (1SP) + small portion of cheese (2SP) = 9SP

Superfood bowl

For the superfood bowl do not include the wrap, add an extra portion of slaw and double up on lettuce:

Example: Regular portion of spicy shredded beef (5SP) + regular portion of brown rice (3SP) + black beans (0SP) + onion and peppers (0SP) + double portion of slaw (2SP) + guacamole (3SP) + lettuce (0SP) = 13SP

Tacos

For the tacos track a small portion of meat, a small portion of lettuce, 1/3 slaw per taco, half a portion of tortilla chips and a portion of salsa (plus anything else you'd like, such as sauce or cheese):

Example: Corn soft dos tacos (3SP) + small portion of grilled chicken (2SP) + onion & peppers (0SP) + portion of slaw (1SP) + small portion of sour cream (1SP) + jalapenos (0SP) + lettuce (0SP) + small portion of cheese (2SP) + half a portion of tortilla chips (7SP) + small portion of Pico de Gallo salsa (0SP) = 16SP

Room for dessert?

Donating Blood? Blood Donors Should Be Aware of These Requirements & Restrictions

According to the American Red Cross, only 1 in 100 people donates blood — even though the need for blood is constant. "Many people are reluctant to make their first blood donation," the Red Cross notes, "but once they do, they find the donation process to be easy and gratifying."In fact, one donation can help save up to three lives. However, if you're thinking of donating blood — for the first time or the hundredth — it's essential that you learn more about the requirements and restrictions first.

Requirements for Blood Donors

To be a blood donor, there are specific requirements that must be met, including the following:

• You must be at least 17 years old. _{(Note: Some states allow 16 year olds to donate blood.)}
• You must weigh at least 110 pounds.
• You must feel well enough to give blood.
• If you are 18 years old or younger, you must meet certain height and weight requirements.

Even if you meet all of these requirements, you may still be ineligible for blood donation, either permanently or temporarily. It's also important to note that if you want to donate more than once, or become a repeat donor, you must wait at least eight weeks between blood donations.

Restrictions Associated With Being a Blood Donor

While all blood is tested after it is donated, certain types of bacteria or viruses may not show up in the test results, which is why it's important to take stock of your own conditions, illnesses and medications before giving blood.If you have the following diseases or conditions, you are ineligible:

• Sickle cell disease
• Chronic fatigue syndrome
• Hepatitis B or hepatitis C
• Blood cancer
• Tuberculosis
• Hemochromatosis
• HIV or AIDS, or if you are at risk for developing HIV

Other restrictions include, but are not limited to:

• If you've ever taken IV drugs that were not prescribed to you.
• If you or a first-degree relative suffers from Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease.
• If you have had unexplained jaundice since the age of 11.
• If you have ever received a dura mater transplant or have taken human pituitary growth hormone.
• If you were born in and/or lived in certain countries of West Africa.
• If you've spent a significant amount of time in countries where mad cow disease is found.
• If you have diabetes and have ever taken bovine insulin made from cows from the United Kingdom.
• If you have ever received a blood transplant in the United Kingdom or Africa.

Even if none of the above applies to you, you may still be turned away from the blood bank. Here are some of the conditions that may make you temporarily ineligible:

• If you have an acute infection, you must wait until it clears up and off antibiotics.
• If you've received a tattoo from a non-state regulated facility, or a piercing with non-sterile instruments. In that case, you must wait 12 months to donate.
• If you've been treated for syphilis or gonorrhea or have had sexual contact with someone who has hepatitis. In that case, you also must wait 12 months to donate.
• If you've been incarcerated for more than three days, you must wait 12 months after your release to donate.
• If you've had an organ/tissue transplant or had a blood transfusion that used another person's blood, you must wait 12 months to donate.
• If you have had a heart attack, angina, angioplasty, or bypass surgery, you must wait six months.
• If you've traveled to Iraq, or have traveled to or lived in countries where malaria is found. In that case, you must wait 12 months before being eligible to donate.
• If you are pregnant, you must wait until six months after you give birth.
• If you've had certain immunizations or vaccinations, you may have to wait three to eight weeks to donate, depending on what type of shots you've had. Consult with your doctor or the blood bank before donating.

Although having to wait can be frustrating, it is the best way to protect yourself and others. And once that waiting period is over, you'll be eligible to donate time and time again.

What to Expect When Donating Blood

If you meet the requirements, you can technically donate blood — but it's important to be aware of the process and what to expect from the process. It can be an uneasy experience for some, especially if you're scared of needles or feel queasy at the sight of blood. Needless to say, being prepared is the best way to feel comfortable and confident about donation.

Before you give blood, consider the following:

• Drink plenty of fluids.
• Eat a low-fat, high-iron diet.
• Get a good night's sleep.
• Make sure you have your ID ready.
• Wear a short-sleeve shirt or a shirt with sleeves that roll-up easily.
• Make a list of medications that may be in your system.

The process of getting your blood drawn may seem daunting, but it's actually rather straightforward. The steps, as outlined by the Red Cross, are as follows:

• Registration: Here's where having your ID comes in handy. Before the actual donation starts, you'll need to show an ID to register. At this point, staff will go over donation information with you.
• Health History & Mini-Physical: You'll be asked some questions about your health and medical history; staff will also want to know what medications you take and where you've traveled. Additionally, they'll check your pulse, blood pressure, temperature and hemoglobin level.
• Donation: An area on your arm will be cleaned, once a nurse finds a good vein, a sterile needle will be inserted into your arm. The whole process takes 10 minutes at the most, and they'll draw roughly one pint of blood from you for the donation.
• Refreshments: After donating, you're invited to the refreshment area, where you can have a snack and something to drink. Be sure to sit a moment, too. A lot of folks feel dizzy, slightly sick to their stomach, or fatigued afterwards.
• Aftercare: Don't exert yourself. For the rest of the day, be sure to rest and stay properly hydrated and nourished.

Remember that donating blood can be a positive experience. Afterward, you'll feel good knowing that you've helped someone in need.

The most important thing you can have to brand your YouTube channel is your channel art. This is where you personalize your channel and add your own personality and style. The colors and style that you pick is entirely up to you.

Some suggestions for effective YouTube Channel Art

• Keep it clean and simple
• Use colors that will stand out(Different than the YouTube interface)
• Make sure it works on all screen sizes, from desktop to mobile
• Make sure it describes your channel. (art, gaming, beauty, makeup, vlogs etc)
• Post your upload schedule and stick to it (as best you can).

Just a little side note: I decided I wouldn't do any training or tips on building a YouTube channel until I reached at least 100,000 subscribers My YouTube Channel here (PhotoshopCAFE) . I don't want to be teaching anything until I have proved that what I'm teaching works. Thanks to all of you, I passed 100k subscribers Jan, 2018. (That doesn't mean I'm going to be banging you over the head with YouTube stuff, it just means that I feel like I have a few nuggests I can share now).

It's important that your channel art looks good on all screens that viewers will be watching from: Phones, tablets, computers and TV.

Youtube provides a psd template that is the ideal size with the different regions marked on it. Download the new Youtube template here

This is what the template looks like, open it in Photoshop.  Notice the horizontal strip. This is where the important parts of your design should go. I really design for the Text and logo safe area, because this will be visible on all devices. Notice the desktop and tablets are a little wider. The large area is for people watching on TVs through Apple TV, chrome cast, smart TVs etc. Final size is 2560×1440. When you are done, you will save as a jpg and the file size needs to be under 6mb.

My advice: Design for the minimum but make sure the design works on everything.

Finding nice photos and illustrations to use for your Channel art

The text overlay is in a separate layer group which can be hidden or shown. Watch the video at the top to see how I design with the template in Photoshop.

I love to use Adobe Stock to design my channel art. The reason for this is that you can search and download photos directly from Photoshop. Here is a tutorial on using Adobe Stock in Photoshop.

Another thing I like about Adobe Stock is that you can use any of the photos for free. They will have a watermark on them, but it's still good enough for you to try out any photo, or combo of photos, illustrations, textures etc. Try different things and when you are happy, you can choose to license the images you want to use and they will be replaced with a high resolution version without the watermark.

Uploading your Channel Art to your YouTube Channel

Once you have designed your art, it's time to upload to Youtube. I'm going to show you how in both, the old YouTube layout and the new layout (2018).

In the older layout: click the pencil in the top right of the header and choose Edit channel art. (Make sure you are logged into your channel)

In the new YouTube layout click the camera icon in the top Right.

You will now see the uploader.

Either drag your Channel Art (saved as jpg File>Export>Save for Web) or Click on the blue button: Select a photo from your computer

Choose your saved channel art

Click on Se;ect

And you are all done.

How Do You Stream Videos on YouTube?

After the company's founding in 2005, YouTube rose quickly through the ranks of online video websites to become an industry leader that streams more than a billion hours of video a day. That's impressive growth for a site that started with a single video of a co-founder's (Jawed Karim) day at the San Diego Zoo. Today, YouTube includes billions of videos, ranging from clips featuring makeup tips and DIY home repairs to music videos and celebrity interviews.

It's the number one, go-to resource for legally streaming free content — copyrighted materials posted without legal permission are removed — and the platform is very easy to use. You can watch your favorite videos for hours or tackle the challenge of creating new content of your own. Here's a quick look at what you need to know to start streaming videos on YouTube.

Create Your Own YouTube Account

Technically, you don't have to create a YouTube account to just watch videos on the site, but signing in allows you to take full advantage of all the site's features. For example, you won't be able to like or dislike videos, share videos, save videos to playlists or subscribe to different creators' channels if you don't sign in to your account. You also won't be able to create your own content for your own YouTube channel without an account.

Google acquired YouTube near the end of 2006, so you will always sign in to YouTube using your Google account information. If you already have a Google account, simply click Sign In in the top right corner of the main YouTube page and enter your Google email address and password. If you don't have a Google account, choose the option to create an account and follow the steps.

Once you sign in, navigating the site is very straightforward. The navigation bar along the left side of the page gives you options for quickly accessing your library, history, saved and liked video choices, subscription channels, feedback and more. The main screen will feature a changing selection of videos that might interest you based on your viewing history. If you want to find a specific video, use the search bar at the top of the page to type in keyword requests. Clicking your photo icon in the top right corner provides access to your account details.

Choose Your Tier of YouTube Service

Like most streaming services these days, YouTube offers a few different options to take care of your personal streaming needs. If you simply want to watch free videos occasionally in your spare time, then you may be quite happy with the standard YouTube account that provides access to billions of videos free of charge. However, advertising revenue supports the cost of all those free users on the site.

If you want to watch all your favorite content without the nuisance of ad breaks, you can do so by paying a modest monthly subscription fee to access YouTube Premium. Besides no ads in videos, YouTube Premium allows you to listen to music on YouTube Music without advertising interruptions. You can also download videos and music to your device to watch or listen at times (up to 30 days) when you don't have available data or an internet connection.

As a top tier streaming service, YouTube TV gives subscribers access to cable-like TV service with no cable box or contract required. Service includes access to more than 85 live TV channels, including Food Network, HGTV, Nickelodeon and TNT as well as broadcast icons like ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox. In addition to live streaming, you can record all your favorite shows for later viewing without ever worrying about how much recording space you have left. Each YouTube TV account is valid for up to six users, although only three users can stream simultaneously.

Upload or Broadcast Your Own Original Content

When you set up your account on YouTube, you can create your own original content for your YouTube channel and then promote that content to gain subscribers. Your content could be videos you film, edit and upload to the site, or you could broadcast live streams with the touch of a button. Many companies have embraced the Streamlabs OBS (Open Broadcaster Software) on YouTube to create webinars, tutorials, online instructional videos, interviews and other pieces of video content. Even novice filmmakers can easily use the suite of tools.

But perhaps the most interesting element for many people is the ever-growing number of success stories about individuals — collectively known as YouTubers — who have turned making videos for YouTube into full-time, successful careers. To earn money for your original content, you must be enrolled in YouTube's Partner Program, which requires a review of your channel.

The different types of monetization include payment for ad revenue, channel memberships, views by premium members, merchandise recommendations and a service called Super Chat, where subscribers pay to boost their messages in chat streams. Once your YouTube channel is approved, you have to meet specific qualifying criteria to turn on the different types of monetization. For example, view count and subscriber minimums must be met for several revenue streams, and making money on ads requires you to produce advertiser-friendly content.

Use Third-Party Software or Hardware Encoders to Stream Live Videos

For live streaming, many YouTube creators stick to using the webcams on their computers or their mobile devices. However, some prefer to use third-party encoders to create and stream live videos. This method is particularly useful if you want to use multiple cameras to create a more complex production.

To live stream using an encoder, you must enable live streaming and then install the software or hardware encoder. Software encoding options include Stage Ten and Xsplit Broadcaster. A computer screen mockup is the perfect way to show your website in context or to show your website actually being used. If you've ever searched for just the right computer screen mockup, however, you know that it can be really difficult to find the exact template you need. That is, until now. Placeit has an incredible range of Apple device mockups that will make you jump for joy. And using one is easier than you could ever have imagined.

How to Use a Computer Screen Mockup

Placeit's iMac, MacBook, MacBook Air and MacBook Pro mockups are all very easy to use. Let me show you how.

1. Sign Up for Free at Placeit

Navigate to the MacBook Mockup page.

2. Select a Template You Like

3. Upload Your Image

Now you have two options:

Take a screenshot of the content you'd like to display in your Mac Mockup and click the Upload Image button in the upper left of the screen. Navigate to your screenshot and upload.

Alternatively, if you wish to display a webpage, select the option From URL, and then copy and paste the URL of the webpage you'd like to display in the box provided.

4. Crop If Necessary

If you chose to upload an image, you will be presented with a window which allows you to crop it to the required size for your Mac mockup. If you've typed in the URL of the webpage you'd like to display, the software will automatically fit the website to the dimensions of the mockup.

5. Make Changes as Needed and Download

After the image is processed, it will appear in your Apple mockup templates. If you're not happy with your crop, you can click the crop icon in the upload box, located to the right of the upload image text, to re-crop the image.

If you want to choose another image or website, click the X next to the crop tool in theUpload Image box or the X next to the From URL box and start the process again. If you're happy with your laptop mockup, you can download it for a small fee. And just like that, you've got a great Mac mockup.
